Phases of production level

So I'm kind of in this little phase of my production. Like most people start out with not really knowing much about their sequencer, so when they create a track it's hard to really make it sound "pro" without knowing the sequencer. Once you realize how the sequencer works and you've made a few tracks, you start developing some sounds, messing around with presets, adding some effects, molding your own sound using eq, etc. I call this the intermediate level. I feel like I'm stuck now between an intermediate level and the level right before you actually start creating your own sound and making really good tracks. I know it's a long road to success, but I keep finding myself trying to develop my own sound and adding effects and really just trying to do the effects part instead of actually working on the arrangement of the track. I really don't have anymore ideas for how my songs should be arranged, but I have endless ideas on how this sound would fit this other one and tons of other stuff. I'm really just wondering where everyone else would put themselves on the production level "spectrum" or what they've done to maybe overcome and possibly jumped a few levels (maybe from pure talent?).

I'm not the new tiesto.

I'd consider myself few steps below pro. Not qualitywise, but mostly on the musical aspects of my music.

I'm kind of where you are. I'm too focused on the sounds themself and perfecting them to ever get around to the arrangement of the sounds..

Hi,

Well i was a total neewbie, then yesterday i came across something on the net that totally took me from the neewbie to a level a bit higher i guess.(if i didnt find what i dound yesterday i wouldve still been a real neewbie for sometime)

Maybe thats what you need.Maybe you are missing something that is going to take you to the next level.I dont know if you might be struggling with any aspects of making music, but i was a bit discouraged, until i found my discovery a few days ago.Now i have a renewed enegy.Maybe thats what you need BRO.

I Dont think there's actually a "Pro" when it comes to music

its just how ur Tracks will sound , The Arrangment , Mixing and of course the Unique Part in each Production , obviously that everyone will develope his own style sooner or later
I Would call my Self a Unique guy when it comes to Genres Combination

Really like to blend all kind of wierd genres !
still not a Pro , got so much to Learn

No. That's broke.. :-P

For me, the defining point of being "At a standard" (I refuse to call it "Pro") is when you can have one of your tracks dropped in a club as part of a set and the crowd dances and enjoys themselves.

It's also in the exact moment you will hear any flaws you left in there, and if you are really unlucky the crowd notices them too and the DJ mixes out quickly to avoid bottles being thrown at him/her.

I've been in both situations. The first is the absolutely one of the best feelings in the world, the latter is definately one of the worst.

With practice you get success more often than failure, and before too long the failures dry up.

Keep going. It's a long road, but the payoff is worth it (At least in terms of personal satisfaction!)
