Is it normal for any audio connection to create a very small amount of noise. I have a virus plugged in my sound card and there is a small amount of noise, very very subtle, but if you boost it 10db you can clearly hear it. What should I do to remove this, is it my cables?

Yes, this is the main major problem in a studio. To avoid the noise i use good quality balanced cables between all hardware things, but this is not enough, i also use an hardware noise reduction unit, Behringer SNR 2000, it's very eficient. The noise is not noticeable when the unit has the power button turned on

Its also important to make sure everything is being supplied with good clean power, not just for sound quality but so your equipment doesnt get f*ked. Power conditions + Surge protectors = important for anything you plug in to the wall that you value!
Especialy audio equip.

Hmmmmm all my setup is plugged into one powerbar (computer-monitor-virus). Is that ok?

it is best to seperate computer+screen & possible lights from the audio power supply to reduce noise.
