Pulsing Sound?

How do people go about getting that pulsing sound that you hear so often in trance music usually on strings or some hpf synth? An example would be like the pulsing/pumping sound you hear in "Without You" by Dogzilla.

You mean the famous supersaw? Read the stickies

I would use Pro 53 for this purpose with unison on and analog set to 75%

i agree

i think youre talking about gating? you can sorta achieve a similar effect by automating volume control in fruity...although i have never ever come close to make it sounding as good as dogzilla

id be interested in how you do get the perfect 'pulsing' sound though...

Fix your note lengths to make it sound gated and change your snap to none. Go from there.

I use cubase sx3. I've heard it mentioned that people use "gating" to acheive the pumping/pulsing sound but i've never used a gate before so i'm not sure how to do this.

Are you talking about the pulsing/pumping sound between sounds like your kick and bassline or your kick and maybe main synth sound?

How do you know that sound is side-chained and doesnt just have attack on it? If it is side-chained they never show it (play the sound without side-chaining enabled)

I guess you don't. Because if someone goes into the trouble of perfectly emulating sidechain by adjusting the attack and notes of the synth, they'll do it so that you can't guess.
