i started producing like 4-5 moths ago, though i never finished a track. i start a project and work on it for 3-4 maybe 5 days (2-3 hours a day) and after that i stop.

i have ideeas but after working on it for a few days i think it sucks and there is no point in finishing it. maybe i get too "intime" with the sound or somethin i don't know, or maybe it does suck.

anyway here's my latest project. i have doubts this is worth finishing.

Post this in the Amateur Music Producers Promotion Forum, I think you will get more feedback there

If you dont like your track, start a new tune and try to consider the possible improvement people suggested. That helped me a lot

lol I have the same problem, I have been producing for 4 years now and I have never finished a track. Only thing I have been doing is creating kicks and basslines. I am never satisfied, I want everything to be perfect. Its not making me happy, but I know this: The first track I will ever finsh will be a monstertune. That, or I will never finish a track.

i agree with dj palm...ofcouse you want your track to be as good as possible. i don't think a producer can think his track is perfect 'cuz he is very "intimate" with the sounds in it, and knows every single mistakes in it. after listening to it for sooo many times while producing it you won't get the real feel of it. my point is that whatever you do it won't be perfect for you, though it may be for others.

When I first started producing, I would religiously finish tracks off, even if it took me months, now it doesnt phase me so much if a track isnt finished. Theres something to be said for finishing tracks, but sometimes you have to know when to stop polishing a turd.

Actually now, I usually try and have atleast two tracks on the go at any one time. That way if I'm in a fiddly mood I can polish up one or try something new on the other if I'm feeling creative.

btw: Your track sounds relatively 'finished' Other than adding fx and whatnot, I wouldnt go changing much about it. Move on...

I have never finished a track either, and ive been producing for over 6 years..... I think i can produce something close to a pro standard, but i always get hung up on the melody. If it sounds remotely cheesy or familiar (and everything does, to me anyway) i just scrap it and try again. Its a bit frustrating
So now i just mess around in my sequencer now and then, getting nowhere.

A good listener or musician has ideas in his head, he can imagine how a song should sound, what sound instruments drives a potential listener to the sky, what feeling shoud have a track, but only a good producer put thoose ideas on tracks. Composing a bassline or some drum tracks it's just a cumulative experience. The entire song involve a lot of work, I think that's the reason because some producers do not finish them work

couldn't help but chip in on the subject. You need a heck of a lot of patience to learn to churn out a signable tune. Don't be lazy is my advice. Learning new techniques and production tricks is more like doing homework than DJ'íng for a crowd. But once you have the skills mastered it's like riding a bike, you never forget and eventualy they will come to you automacaly. You will know what techniques to use when you want a certain sound. Moving on from loops and actualy getting your first full sequence down is just like this. Just don't be lazy and just throw yourself in the deep end.

The track I heard sounds like it was made in fruityloops. I have to say that fruityloops doesn't realy envite you to be very creative along the timeline. Fruity is better for just cooking up an absolutely perfect loop and repeating it a few times with a bit of tweaking here and there.

Music has survived wars, famines, the plague and many other things and has evolved with man across many cultures. Dance music is just the next step in the evolutionary chain. My guess is that it will probably be with us untill we are extinced.
