Can't record my vinyls properly...

For whatever reason my computer all of a sudden decided not to record my vinyls properly anymore... I can't seem to get the levels of my recordings to reach 0 (sorry I don't know all the technical terms/what I'm talking about). Now the most my recordings max out is approximately -16.1... it used to be right around -0.3 to 0.0. I have messed with the level on my Xone 92. I haven't changed anything in my setup...

The only thing I can think of is a software problem. I looked under my Sounds and Audio Devices Properties in WinXP... I changed my Line In volume to 100% (was around 80% or so) and still nothing... Play control volume is around 80% (that's just the volume to come out of my PC speakers... not applicable in this situation). My Wave/MP3 volume is up to 90%.... Nothing is muted.

Just makes no sense to me? All my recordings now sound low in volume...

Any ideas? I'm using Sound Forge and WinXP.

Thanks,
Keith

Exact same thing happened to me.

When you go to your volume control (on computer) check to see that the check box is checked.

I put the volume up to 100 % and nothing worked...then I noticed the checkbox for line in was not checked.

Solved my problem.

Or check your cables again ...

Don't try to record at 0 (I assume your are talking dB) as if they recording goes above that level, it will cause clipping (distortion) in the recording.
Best to leave about 3 dB headroom.

have you checked the recording settings? go into volume control then go to options>preferences. change the radio button to recording and click ok. make sure line in is selected and turned up!

Line-in, you may have to enable it in the properties. If that doesnt work try analog mix or what u hear

just put them at 100% for now (Master, line in for recording, and line in for playback). then once you have everything working you can turn stuff down
