Love is in the air Top 100 Female DJs

Hiya boys and girls,
I know there've been threads on the hottest female DJs in the past, but now there's a site that's running a poll for the top 100 female DJs. I guess they're hoping it'll catch on like the DJ Mag poll... here's the link for anyone who's got favourite female DJs.
I know of a few, and there's a really talented girl in Ottawa who spins EDM, so I'm voting for her too.

thanx for the welcome.
I did use the "search" function... even went back 15 pages in the results, I couldn't find anything about this poll, so I figured it's never been posted.

I'll look harder next time.

Cheers.

While I think this exposes women DJs as a group, I think it is exposing them as a group that needs to be recognized separate from men. Ask any female DJ and she will tell you that the biggest annoyance in this industry is to be singled out as a female (although there are some that want the attention as such). Most female DJs just want to be seen on an equal playing field with their male counterparts.

I havn't seen this yet, thanks Marco !

I dont agree with a segregated top 100, they would never have a "top 100 male DJs" poll. I voted anyway...

I think you're mistaking a nearly impossible industry to break into with being segregated from male counterparts. I think females need to stop using their sex as an excuse for being overlooked. We live in a day and age where this argument is no longer valid. This may have been necessary in the past when women were still struggling to be seen as equals in the work force, but today I think it's simply misleading and inaccurate to say that women aren't given equal opportunities.

As a Paradigm founder, we've thrown many events with female DJs and we would NEVER consider their gender over their DJing abilities or style of music. In fact, we LOVE to bring in female DJs because people LOVE to see women rockin' it behind the decks. My honest opinion is that this is a cop out and an excuse for being overlooked in an industry diluted with medeocre talent (because everyone's a DJ these days). I find that far too many people expect to be noticed within their first few years of learning to spin records... but unfortunately, it's not that easy and some amazing talent goes overlooked for far too many years (MALE AND FEMALE). Club owners are interested in ONE thing: making money... and unfortunately, giving talented up and comers a chance to play in their clubs is not in their best interest because it doesn't bring in the masses... and THAT's why people are being overlooked... not because they're female.

My opinion... segregating yourself with this perspective will only perpetuate the stereotype. If you want to be seen as equals BE equals without using your sex as an excuse. I believe this web site is a GREAT tool for promotion, which I fully support and agree with... HOWEVER... I feel that the "boo-hoo, poor women.. " attitude is what really hurts your cause. I think that having a group of girls support and promote one another exclusively is a fantastic idea.. I just think you need to find a different way to present it without playing the guilt card.

Anyways, I don't want to sound like I'm bringing you guys down... but as a DJ and promoter I just wanted to present a different light on the subject. Please read this with an open mind and understand that I present this with the absolute best intentions in mind...
