Calling Your Name

I have noticed that on Discogs there is a Jan Johnston - Calling Your Name version and a Libra Pres. Taylor - Anomaly (Calling Your Name ) version.

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Libra+Presents+Taylor

&

http://www.discogs.com/release/133325

Whats the difference, and if there is any, why did they use two different names..?

One is a classic of uber-proportions

The other is a cheap tacky 2003 rework

when the original came out, i'm guessing very few people really knew who jan johnston was. but in 2003 looks like they decided to release some remakes under her name because with all the other big hit tunes she's worked on, they probably figured her name would help them sell...

ok, here goes

The original song is an old jan johnston song released in 1994, the song was called The Prayer (Calling Your Name) and was a b-side to the single "Paris". BT sampled the vocal for this track for his & up-and-coming producer Taylor's one time collaboration Anomaly (Calling Your Name) released originally on US label MusicNow in 1995 with the track Earoica on the flip. Platipus was the first to license the track to the UK, and they added remixes by Evolution, Granny & The Forth. Then in 1999 MusicNow released a new set of remixes by Quivver, Noel Sanger, Memnon & Albion. The Albion & Quivver remix would turn out to be very popular, so in 2000 came a new batch of remixes on Platipus and Captivating Sounds which licensed it to the Netherlands. On Platipus you would get remixes by Moogwai, Pronti & Kalmani and Solar Stone chillout version and Captivating brought a Kid Vicious Remix. On the 2000 release the Albion Remix was now labeled as Ferry Corsten Remix. And in 2003 yet another batch of remixes would be brought, on Captivating Sounds there was remixes by Subsphere, Shane 54 & C-Quence. and on Platipus there would be remixes but released under her original name. The remixes on platipus was by Art Of Trance, Thrillseekers, Kansai and Neo & Farina and also would the acapella be available so 5 gazillion other remixes could be released because obviously there is such a big fucking need of it. fucking bitches.

last thing i would like to say is. Original rules all, and Evolution & Quivver remixes come close.
