the movie is "spiritually" adapted from Silent Hill 1 which came out on the original sony playstation. The game was rather confusing, but from what I understand it had to do with a crazy cult in cahoots with the more superior evil gods. The movie adds an element about a crazy fire that severely affected the town. The only real change I see is that the main character is now a female.
It borrows elements from other games- the big one being Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2. Pyramid Head is probably the baddest mother fucking enemies in any game made. In the game, there is a scene where you hide in a closet and see Pyramid H rape a monster.
bla bla bla, the Silent Hill series relies heavily on metaphors and symbolism that leaves so many great interpretations. Why is the movie filled with females? Where are they on the map? What does the daughter have anything to do with this strange town.
