Evolution eKeys 49 drivers on Windows 2000 Pro (SP4)

Hey all,

I have a problem installing the drivers for my Evolution eKeys 49 Keyboard on my new system. I also had the same problem on my other system when running Win2k...

Problem is I simply can't install the basic drivers from the cd (or when copied to the harddrive anyway), because after some steps the driver_install.exe just uses up the entire CPU of one of my dual core processors (it used to be the entire CPU of my previous PC) and of course does nothing at all to advance.

Is there any way I could solve this problem? For example install the drivers manually or something?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Wim

Maybe the exe is simply damaged or you don't have too much space in your temp folder... I had a similar problem (whole cpu eaten by installer and no action at all) and cleaning the temp acutally helped.

Wim,

You can try installing the driver by hand.. by going through the device manager, selecting 'update driver' on the device, and just finding the .INF file from the cd manually.. I never use exe installs for my devices, I always install the device driver INF and thats about it.. that's all you need.,

Hope this helps

Dave.

Honzi:

Don't know if it really is the temp folder (it is only about 16MB - I regularly clean those things with CCleaner)...

Dave:

I tried installing it via the 'Add Hardware' option in the Control Panel. This helped actually installing the device, though FL Studio still is unable to recognise the Keyboard.

What further steps do I need to take in order to get this right?

I managed to solve the problem with a few fiddlings and tweaks.

I tried to install the drivers via the 'Add/Remove Hardware' in the Control Panel. This went ok as it was possible to access the INF file directly (as my friend Dave had mentioned - just selecting the 'install' via right mouse click on the INF didn't work).

Though, having be able to install it in some way, FL Studio still didn't recognise it as a MIDI input. I remembered something similar being asked in their FAQs so I had a look and saw they had a registry patch for Win2k/XP. I applied the patch and followed their instructions (re-installed the Keyboard driver after having applied the patch) and now it works.

A whole lot more work than usual, though after all I'm glad it finally works

Cheers,
Wim
