Final Scratch and Ortofon Needles

I have always used the Stanton 505 needles with Final Scratch 1.5 and 2.0.

I got to a party once and they had Ortofone needles on the decks. When warming up in the cue I noticed it was playing backwards. I thought this was a bit weird so I switched vinyl... same thing. Very odd. Upon bringing out my own needles they worked fine as soon as I screwed them into the tonearm.

This was a few months ago, I figured the needles were just used party needles and I never thought about it again.

Well a friend of mine came over and tried his ortofone's and we had a slightly different, yet same general problem. This time, it started tracking the tune at the last minute or so of the song but wasn't tracking properly, just playing. Very bizarre.

Have there been known issues with Final Scratch and Ortofone needles before? I've tried checking around to see anything but haven't found much.

I'm also wondering if it is a setting on Final Scratch that I'm not setting up properly.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have not had a problem with Ortofon concordes on my FS system (1.1 and 1.5). I have used the Pro (silver) and DJ S (blue). That is not to say my FinalScratch experience has not been perfect, but rather my problems have all been with groundloops and recognizing the SA. I have not had audio play backwards, though I have heard of others with that issue. One thing to take way is what differences do the needles have, are the Ortofon's elliptical? The Ortofon's may output a weaker (quieter) signal? Anyway, I hope you find a solution, because the tech support is totally useless (for that reason along I would say the above poster may be onto something.)

No problem here with my 'old' Ortofon Pro Silver and DJ E needles, working like a charme. Did you adjust the gain on the amp after you installed them, adjusted the rumble settings and did you check the timecode-meter when it happend? I have had audio play backward once when timecode was lost due to firewire signal loss.
