I visit this particular thread (production studio) frequently, but rarely post. I'm very interested in the whole production spectrum, but I'm an absolute beginner, so I come here in search of knowledge. I've actually learned a lot just by reading the various discussions around here. I'm sure that I'm not the only one in this position, so that might explain why the views to posts ratio is skewed. Hopefully one day I'll be able share something constructive

I think the main reason for this is because 90% of the people that visit this forum are newbies looking for answers. I think there's only a small handful of people here that can give valid answers to many of the questions posted here. Also, those people that are knowledgeable are limited to their specific interest/field (ex. Ableton, Cubase, FL, etc)... except perhaps if it's a general technical question about sound and construction of sound frequencies.

If you go to other forums (like Vengeance for example) you'll meet most of the time very professional producers discussion interesting productions aspects.
Most of those people have also paid for the software they use, so you won't find any noob questions like: "How can I automate my sequencer" and stuff like that...

technically... yes
all you need is a midi to whatever convertor to make it start and hit the gas or brakes... certainly doable.

I can see both sides of the story, this site if FULL to the brim of very talented producers, some who I know and alot i dont,

Their have been thousands of very informed replies on nearly every subject god can throw down about the production of music, Trance or otherwise,

But, Although i dont agree with it, If you have been asked the same question 2 or 3 times a week by lazy ppl who are looking for a quick fix(and I have been guilty of this) you would get pissed off also, hense the snotty answers.

Their are pages of threads covering all aspects of production, have a look, use the search option, dont just rely on this site but most of all use ur ears and if all of the above fails post away,

Its interesting if you go back and read the threads from 2-3 years ago as you'll notice a lot more free discussion on topics. Aside from that fact its also quite funny to read comments from a lot of the old timers as production n00bs and seeing how far they have come.

I know what you mean though. The answer to a lot of questions people ask is "there is no answer" or "use the search". Which is kind of odd, since you usually dont get those sorts of responses on forums like kvr for example. Even if the question has been asked a hundred times, people are very keen to re-itterate. Or maybe its just people arnt asking the right questions to stimulate discussion?? Generally though, I think it would definately be good to see a lot more freeform conversation on these boards.
