I'm doing a mix.. and dumping it to WAV with Total Recorder software at the same time..

nope, not really.

..unless you have a SBLive! soundcard. If you do, then you can use it's builin "record what u hear" function. Then all you need is a program that will record the mix directly onto the harddrive in .wav form, such as CoolEdit.

(this is what I do to record mixes into .wav, it's VERY simple. except I use the recording program that came with the SBLive, it works very well.)

Pretty much any sound card worth the money you paid for it is full duplex (can operate play & record/lineout at the same time), i bought my soundcard for £5 and it has 'record what you hear' function... check your recording settings in volume settings, make sure wave out isnt muted or anything, then it should record whatever you play in cool edit or something similar. If this doesnt work (i.e. whoever sold u your soundcard jewed you, and you have MiniDisc on your stereo, hook it up so your computer is on linein and just record it that way, then you can burn it to CD from there.

not just any full duplex card will work well w/directsound recording... (directsound drivers are used by default for playing mp3s with VTT in most cases, unless you use Total Recorder, which uses its own drivers).

you need to make sure the soundcard has good DirectSound full-duplex driver capability... i guess most newer cards would do the job allright.

i've tried few older 'full duplex' cards w/Directsound recording, not ALL of them work well. (such as the older AWE64 series)
