dude, first of all buy a sequencer (ie. Cubase, Orion, Reason, Fruity Loops). than do a lot of reading, there's plenty of tutorials online. ofcourse reading is not enough, practice as much as you can.

good luck!

Before you go buying a sequencer, check the demos out. See which one makes more sense to you.

You may also want some VSTs if your sequencer doesn't have good ones with it off the bat. Since you're on a budget, you'll want to look for some free VSTs. For those, I'd suggest Synth1 for leads(Japanese. I think you can find your way around without Japanese knowledge, though.) and tweakbench pressure for bass. These are probably some of the best free VSTs out there, IMO, although if anyone can think of anything else, they may have good points.

You may have to acquire a bit of a budget if you're serious about producing, sinceI think you're a bit limited in terms of free VSTs when it comes to Macs...

If u are just starting out, I'd recomend reason, It's self contained, so u can make tracks straight away without having to find VST's and samples.

You may find it a bit limiting later, but it's a great starting point for any aspiring producer.

And before anyone flames me, many commercial producers make completely awesome tunes, you realy can get a proffesional track out of it, I just found the lack of VST's a bit annoying about 6 mths after using it so I went to ableton live and the rewire reason into it.

Just google reason and u can download a free demo

As has been mentioned make sure you check out what sequencer suits you best before buying anything. I made the mistake of not doing enough research so I got reason with my pc not aware that it didn't support vst so I went out to get cubase sx ( came back with sl but a virus c as well!! )and then shortly after that I came accross fl studio which I wish I'd done in the first place as it's now my sequencer of choice and I could have saved a lot of time and money.

Also have a good read of the master tutorial list thers some very good info in there as well on just about everything.

( ps any one intrested in a geuine boxed copy of reason 2.5 or cubase sl2.5 pm me )
