[OFFICIAL REVIEW] Ferry Corsten @ Avalon 2-4-06
Ferry absolutely was killing it while I was there. I was stoked to hear him drop Linking People- Giuseppe Ottavanni.
A big crowd at Avalon, not PACKED PACKED, but very full. The ususal suspects were in effect from the washers to the meat heads while Alien Tiesto also made another appearance with BT.
Seemed like one of Ferry's better residency nights, and people looked very happy. Ferry looked sharp as always and was just rocking it out like only he can.
It was equally crowded @ Spundae which was cool, Irene was "doing her thing". But at 2am when the bars stopped serving it was time to head to Avalon. Once we got there it was like the bar reopened and we got back to drinking while enjoying the sounds of Ferry.
His mixing was super tight, as always (one of the things I appreciate most about him)
He also busted out with SEVERAL tracks on VINYL (cough cough to all you DIGI only DJs.... Ferry pwns you) one of them being Way Out West- The Gift.
I love that Ferry could be dropping CD after CD and then just decide to lay down a vinyl of a track that he most certainly has on CD. What I love even more is that it isn't like he did it for show or to try and "be cool", the booth at Avalon made it so the crowd couldnt even see the decks, or what was going on during mixing, so no one could even see him working both formats.
The only hiccup in his set, was when he hit eject by accident and there was 5-7 seconds of silence It was nice to see that Ferry is not a total machine!!!
Anyway, the night rocked, saw lots of TAs out(and getting KICKED OUT... ) and I'm glad I got to catch Ferry's second to last residency as I will not be able to make it to his last one next month.

I thought Ferry's set was great... lots of energy kept me dancing the whole night even though I was sick! Got a glance of Tiesto upstairs. Who was on right before Ferry? I was loving the music but it seemed like they wrecked 2 or 3 times.

Getting into Avalon was a Nightmare. I guess that is pay back for the times I really did not have to wait. The line move so slow and there was an issue with the Club planet people. Then of chorse there where the people that payed the bouncer to get in faster. That dude has to be makeing bank on the weekends!
Once Inside Crig Edwards was on. His opening set was actully pretty good untill the end when he got boaring, wired and wrecked. He lost his flow.
Tiesto was spoted upstairs with BT and Ferry before he got on. Eric got his attention pointed at his TIC shirt and gave Eric a thumbs up. That was totlay awsome. Then Someone grabed my Ferry sign and showed him that too. Classic
Ferry Starts his set around 1:30 and for 6 solid hours Ferry Kills it. I am glad the dance floor was not uber packed. Plunty of room to dance and be close to see Ferry.
Tracks:
Right of way
Who's knocking
Better Watch out
Rock your Body Rock
With out you
Tracking Treasure down
Lately
Force of Gravity
Cubicated
Fire
New Years day (FC remix)
Hummmm.. Around 4-5ish the L.E.F came out in full force. Ferry was playing some sick twisted bass driving Trance. Even when my feet where beyond dead I could not stop dancing.
Such an amazing set. It was almost flawless
For the last hour or so of Ferry's set; Robert Kris and I get invited to hang out back stage. Kris and I say hello and continue to dance. After his set the party was not over a sm group of us stay to hang out and chat he pours everone some champane and makes a toast. Ferry is so FUNNY OMG
I had so much Fun! I did not want the night to end. But after 7 we all went upstairs like we usuly do but it was dead! There was no one at Avalon anymore. So that was also our cue to leave as well.
I can not wait untill next month now.

When I caught Ferry back in Montreal he ejected disks TWICE in one night. No worries though, the crowd just pumped him back up and he spun the SICKEST electro I've heard, almost as if he was punishing us. :P
He also busted out with SEVERAL tracks on VINYL (cough cough to all you DIGI only DJs.... Ferry pwns you) one of them being Way Out West- The Gift.

i don't understand your point...
Point is he isnt abandoning the roots, and hes not just doing it for show.

Incredible set, wonderful tracks, brilliant mixing (I know I know, broken record)
It's true tho Had a great time, but had to leave around 5am (friend was almost passing out he was so tired). Nice seeing Michelle, Kris, and Robert again, and... HotDogWater (sup dude!) I wish I had been able to say hi to Kristina.. didn't know she was there. Bummer!
