What Mixer Would You Get?

My mixer is messing up BAD! I think I'll be in the market for a new mixer really SOON... What should I get?

Pioneer DJM 800, Xone 92, Rane MP2016 Rotary, or UREI 1620 Rotary

Pioneer DJM 800, Xone 92, Rane MP2016 Rotary, or UREI 1620 Rotary

Absolutely no question about it. The DJM-800. None of the other mixers have two of the most important features of the DJM-800. These 2 features making it far superior.

1. Midi Control from the mixer. Absolutely worth it all by itself! The possibilities are endless, especially for someone that uses a computer (Woody). There is so much you can do with just that alone.

2. Digital Input and output stage. As Pioneer states in their description about the DJM-800. All Inputs are converted to a digital signal internally. This gives you ultra precise adjustments, effects and sound quality. All while minimizing the chances of any outside EMF/RF intereference. The sound quality out of a Pioneer using the digital output, i would be willing to bet sounds better than all of it's challengers. This mixer now has the same internal audio bus as the the DJM-1000.

And in my opinion the Pioneer is the easiest to operate and pretty much the industry standard. for all you rotary guys out there, the Pioneer even has the option of Rotary Knobs instead of faders.

This is a breakthrough product and I would expect to start seeing them popping up all over the place.

If you can tell, I kinda like this one.

Hope this helps

Now you like it. You hated it at Element!

------ I am leaning more toward the 800 for the exact same reasons Robert pointed out. I find my self using my laptop on 70% of my gigs. If only Serato had MASTER TEMPO, then it would be on 100% of my gigs. So for now, the Spanish Rock still has to be played from CDS. Anyhow, just the thought of the DJM 800 becoming a full on midi control gives me a woody. Shit, that's like Pioneer's version of the Maven! I'd love to get the Xone 3D but it's too expensive.

Well they are also running a full four point Funktion 1 system unlike any on the west coast!

Taken from another thread, and why the 800's "MIDI" actually sucks shit:

Not really...as a MIDI controller, the DJM-800 is not that useful. The faders/knobs will send out MIDI, but they are not reprogrammable or remappable.

For instance, if you're using, say, Traktor...which knob will you use to select your tracks? which button will you use to choose a track, or to press play, or cue? You'll be able to control the virtual mixer with the EQ's and faders...but all the other functionality....???

Thats where the NUO4 and the XONE:3D are superior....the offer a TON more MIDI functionality. In the case of the NUO4, you can reprogram all the MIDI commands...and it has 89 MIDI commands....plus, it's HALF the price!

The mixer will send MIDI, but only as a mixer, the functions are not customizable and re-assignable.

So it kind of defeats the purpose.

So when will someone build a good mixer/midi controller? Who knows. The 3D is whack..not enough buttons/knobs.

I guess Sasha's build your own route is the best right now...

So yeah, hopefully the 800 will sound good, but wouldn't you expect it to given the price? Allen & Heath have sounded amazing for years, even my little 32 sounds as clean as the 92.

If I were you jesse, i'd get a 92, Allen & Heath have great design and build, and the filters are ADDICTIVE to say the least!

I never got to use it at Element. I just thought it looked annoying with the 309823r098 lights on it. But since then i've used Clovis's 32? And a 92 at the Day's house, it's alot of fun
