have you ever mixed two songs together in such a way that the vocals from each song are playing over each other and have it sound good. i'm thinking that it could work if you had two songs with softer more background type vocals like Mercury and Solace or Song to The Siren and you didnt play them over each other for too long. What do you guys think? Have you ever heard it done before? I was just thinking about this today and i had to ask.

sounds like a generally good idea, but when I have heard it in the past it sounded awful. I bet if you got them to do the call-answer thing it would work well.
You might want to check out some of the vs. tracks, like Picotto vs. Camisra - Show me your lizard to see how other people have done it.

a friend of mine mixed something (cant remember the tune) over Lost Witness - Song to the Siren briefly at a house party and i thought it sounded awesome but i was pretty mashed at the time so that might have had something to do with it. i've heard that Picotto vs. Camisra track and Hooligan - Hear You Now has been my song of the day for almost a week. I just ordered it from amazon.com. the humate mix absolutely owns me.

as long as the songs are in the same key (harmonic mixing) it should be fine. the main reason it sounds like crap sometimes is because they are in different keys.

i did that in one of my mixes... its cool if they sound good together just use your ears... its also a plus if you can create a dialogue between the two songs ; P

vocal over vocal mixing has always been a big no no in mine and my friends books.
if done right sure it can sound good but really. it's not that pleasing to hear. especially when done wrong.

i think you just need the right kind of songs ... maybe a female and the other a male voice ? ..

I've tried it, sometimes by mistake and sometimes on purpose... never got it to sound good though.

Very hard to do but great when pulled off right. Something like a male robotic syntheised voice clips mixed with a female vocal singing sounds awesome. Trial and error and mixing in key are the most important things.

Try mixing Goldenscan - Of Our Times (Super8 Remix) into Neo and Farina Remix of Plummet - Damaged. As one part of the vocal from Damaged finishes, the Of Our Times vocal starts (it does it a few times actually).. its sounds cool if you do it right!
