Help with hi hats / shakers

I'm having a rough time coming up with hi hat patterns. I use FL studio, not that it matters. I'm trying to come up with what I guess you would call "shakers" - that and pretty much anything that isnt just one hit every measure. Anyone care to help post some good patterns or ideas, something to help the track feel like its moving a little more.

Thanks in advance.

ya man, thats how it works...the more time you spend messing around and practicing, the more "clicks" you'll get...

+1 I was using loops up until about a month ago then I found a new way of creating pattens. Now this may sound a little strange but don't just look at the step sequencer and think about where to place them.

Instead loose the theroy and concentrate and the feel of things. So get your kick thumping and just start nodding your head or what ever as you start adding pattens and just try to build up a groove. This may sound strange but once you get the hang of it it's really easy and will make your record maore danceable. But then again what may work for some could be total bollocks for others.

Good luck either way.
