Moving to NYC, got a question

Hey guys,

I'll be moving to New York (Manhattan) in March, but I don't have a place yet. I've decided to search for apartments once I get to NYC, and in the first week or two (while I'm searching), I want to live in a hotel in New Jersey. My question is, what are some good towns/neighborhoods in New Jersey where I can find a moderately priced hotel and be close to Manhattan?

Thanks,
Stan.

The Sheraton in Weehawken is close to the city.

Newport / Exchange Place (both in Jersey City) are also good places, just across the river. It's easy to get to the city from there as well.

Newport has a Double Tree and Courtyard and I think there is a Hyatt Regency in Exchange Place.

Weehawken is your best bet, the Ferry is literally OUTSIDE your door

there are a bunch of reasonably cheap motels and unexpensive hotels in the area of north bergen, jersey city, and hoboken (all of which are very accessible to NYC by bus or train). these areas are closest to midtown manhattan once you cross over the river..

if you want to be in a more residential area, try fort lee or that area, they have a Hilton and Sheraton nearby and a handful of motels too, and its real close to the george washington bridge (which would bring you into uptown manhattan)

good luck searchin
