last minute noobish question - Vestax VMC-002XL vs Numark DM1002mkii

I only have a vague idea about mixers. I know numarks have a nasty reputation of being cheap and not durable, and I've heard good things about vestax, but I still want to be sure. Now obviousely I'm running on a very low budget here. I'm just trying to get the most basic mixer for now. I decided to invest most of my planned budget on getting cdj200s so I only have about 200cnd left for a mixer. The DM1002mkii is priced at 169$c and the Vestax is priced at 189$c. What's the verdict?

Vestax hands down.

I hear the Numark MD1002MK2 is crap at best.

I was looking into these 2 as well, then decided to ignore the 1002 and went to look at the DXM06 Vs. VMC-002 (Not XL), but ended up buying a Vestax PCV-275.

Just head down to Moog and pick one up tomorrow

I am, actually.

Why not the XL? That's the one I was looking at. Is there something bad about it?

No nothing bad about it, just that when I was looking for a mixer last month, the XL wasn't released yet. Definetly go for the lastest model which would be the XL.

But honestly, once you get the hang of things like a month or two down the road, you'll def want an upgrade... Maybe you'd want to invest a bit more money for a better mixer that will support any further equipment you wish to buy.

But the Vestax is a great choice for a basic 2 channel mixer.

what about the Denon DN-X100 2-ch mixer. i thing the babe's a great piece of hardware. it's got vca faders, it's got a customisable fader & x-fader curve, it's said to have great sound, it's compact + pretty cheap. i think ill be heading on for that one. lol, the funny thing is ive got a Numark DM1050 standing in my room for like 2 months already, and i never even trying mixing with him, cause i'm waiting to buy a pair of cdj200s in June (cross my fingers)..

Yeah, the DN-X100 is also competition for the mixers you listed, but the Vestax is the best hands down, second comes the Denon. The Denon is solid, only thing it doesn't have is kill switches, which I personally enjoy on my PCV-275

dont really need then anyways, besides the dn-x100 has isolators, which almost completely kill the Hi, Mid, Low range =) and it's built very solid

ps: i see all the denons are built brick-solid

They will die in this order:

Numark ~2 years

Denon ~3-4 years

Vestax ~4-6
