Where is the proghouse artists' IDM-worshipping coming from?

The last two years, all of a sudden these artist like Holden and Zabiela are worshipping Aphex and Plastikman. How did it get that far, and what is the current "purists" respond to that kind of movement?

Hmmm.. allow me to sum up: They started using sin/pulse stabs with a lot of delay and sidechained pads as basslines in all their tunes and then looked down on epic trance for still using the saw lead. hypocritical? you bet!
