paul van dyk - nothing but you kick?

Anyone know what effect pvd uses on his kick in nothing but you. it sounds like a phaser but when i tried it it sounded shit. if anyone knows how to do this let me no.

my guess: he put some percussion sound on top of the kick and phased only that part

for sure: you need to phaser-fx only the high end parts of the kick (ever tried phasing an entire kick )

ps could also be a flanger, who knows

Yeah effects one bassdrums often sounds terrible, but when done right sounds awesome!

BT adds very short ping pong delay to kicks, works so well. It's not for a 4x4 rythm though cause it would sound dog poo then!

Thios suggestion is most prolly correct...

Flange or Phase a hi hat or loop over a kick, not the actual kick!

Also a sample may help.

You can always send a highpassed kick through a second mixer track, phase that while cutting the dry, then recombining them.

Or, if you layer your kicks, you can mix them separately before mixing them together.

I also put a delay on my kicks.
It gives your kicks extra power... but only when used right
