The intro is really interesting. It's BOTH epic and an acid trip. It's more like acid trance than psy trance, but there are some other elements that say otherwise.
The intro strings seem to linger too long in my opinion.
THe clap you add later seems like a low-grade FL sample. I don't think you should keep it.
What a great assortment of acid bangs, bleeps, blops, and feedback rumbles. This proves that psy trance doesn't have to be in that arabic scale to be trippy (I still consider myself new to the genre).
Still more strings... but the acid dins make things interesting.
The breakdown seems ominous enough. Loads of effects and reestabilishment of the central groove seem to make it a winner.
This is one of those psy-trancers that doesn't live off the uber-low, brooding, evil, rolling bassline. The mood here is more like a video-game, and to be honest with you, I like it alot.
The rest of the track seems to survive from effects, and a jungle-jim of synthy riffs that are very good, but seemed to be building up to something.
The remaining riff-element seemed obscure and inspired in part by Infected Mushroom. The strings are back... and I almost wish they were varied a little more to suprise the listener after a few loops. One variation would put a smile on my face.
Whoa! This was a long track. THanks for sharing.

Listening, I concur about the stirngs, nice draamtic feeling, that filtered synth opens very well, I really like the bunch of synths that appears, but the intor sia bit long for my taste, the jump was a bit dry though, i was expecting some crazy pans with the drums and a reversed sound to open B sectiom, but that's only my my personal taste .
Instead a clap, I would use a clasic 909 snare, the clap kinda feels too weak for this tune though, 7:00 great synths, now here I am beginign to like alot this, now classic psy bass appears and all begins to sound really, cool, the clap stills being out of place imo, I would use the snare .
In overall, nice production,I would do better the first transition and would change that clap, my prefered part was the last one, since 7:00, the intro did not appeal me too much, but the end it's great, good job .
Kopi =o.

Four_On_Four-er: Thanks for the review. You're right about the strings. They need some variation in some spots. In some places, I like the mood their repetition sets, but others, it'd be nice to, as you say, "surprise the listener."
You're also right about the clap being a FL sample, but you're wrong about me changing it . I wanted to go for the cheesy handclap of old with that, and what's cheesier than a floops sample? Particularly, it was supposed to work with the kind of "plasticy" sounds on the kick and bass.
Rich: I'm glad you liked it. The strings may sound off-beat because they are. It's something of a lead-in to the next measure, the intent is to provide a bit more flow.
Kopi: Thanks for the comment about the first transition. It always felt a bit sudden to me, but I wasn't sure if that was just me or not.
Like I told four on four, the clap is there to work with the kick and bass in the same sort of "plasticy" vein. I tried the 909 snare, but it seemed too ernest for me.
I'm glad you guys liked it.

Holy shit
I was first listening to this track last night at like 2AM when I got home and yeah, this one was aptly named. It got me tripping very much (without any drugs involved). It's one of those tracks that you can get totally lost in. Tracks with this trippiness have become very rare. It feels like a journey. This one does not really sound like Hallucinogen, but the way my mind is tripping to it reminds me of the time I got hands on the "Lone Deranger" Album. I think the Hallucinogen comparison is no exaggeration, you've got a MASSIVE track here!
But let's see from beginning to start.
Good dramatic intro. The beginning is drenched in acid, sounds very good.
That additional "scratching" layer of percussion is very nice, it fits perfectly for the track.
The closed hihats sound thin at first, but I wouldnt change anything about it since they fit well with the track, too much would distract the listener from the actual center of attraction, the melodic layers.
The kick is very good, you did an awesome job with mixing it. Same goes for the bassline which is galloping forward very well. Despite so many layers the bassline is still present without being distracting. Really an awesome job with it.
Kinda speedy track, but I like that a lot. It supports the "trip" feeling very well.
3:00 ... here the track really picks up drive. So many lovely FX that literally contribute to a Psy-ocean. The track has a very "liquid" feeling to it, and your mastering contributes a lot to it. Excellent job.
The clap is indeed a little cheap. I can live with it though.
4:18 ... another layer of melody, sounding very nice! Almost didnt notice the change, and we have already 5 minutes passed.
Little breakdown here, with nice percussions.
I think the string loop lasts a little too long, maybe you should use an alternate theme after some time.
Various breakdowns in the midsection now. The track flows kinda well with all the various melodies. This is the most danceable part of the track.
8:30 is kinda nice, getting a little mysterious and dark. That floating pad @10:05 is totally awesome.
Again a little atmospheric breakdown now, leading us straight into the oceans of acid again.
What a fantastic ending!! Though the track constantly stays at a relative high level, this is definately the massive climax like it should be. 12:55 holy shit²³!!!!
Wow, Jex. This is definately by far your best track! Too bad this wasnt ready for the mix (Warm Spell was a good track nevertheless, but at least in my opinion far away from this track).
This is one of the most trippy tracks I've heard for a long time. A track that feels like a huge trip indeed. The track is very long but you know, I love long and epic tracks. It's not a second too much. I listened to it various times now and it doesnt get boring at one single point. And about the mixing: I totally love how you put the layers together. Every element contributes to the overall sound which makes this one feel so liquid. And the melodies are awesome, very mysterious and trippy. Plus something about this track is very unique.
I would not change anything about this, there are only little details I could complain about.
But seriously, it has become one of my top10 Psy tracks.
I cant say how much I admire you for sharing this awesome track!
