Read This! WoW Thermal problem!

hey guys

do any of you guys have a problem with your computer melting after playing an intense video game?

i have a dell dimension 4600c
geforce4 mx 440 (64mb)
1mb ram
2.8mhz p4
160gb hd

had it for almost 21 months no problem. everything worked fine. but i recently got WoW last month and have been playing it alot (level 41). now, when i play the game my system shuts down on it's own whenever i play WoW. if i don't play WoW, my machine runs with no problems.. i can keep it on for a week. but the moment i boot up WoW now, my machine shuts down. an orange light on my motherboard called AUX_POW turns on, and the bios startup screen says 'thermal problem'. is my graphics card overheated? do i have to buy a new power supply?

have any of you guys had this problem playing any gfx intense vid games on your pc?

pork

thermal problem

I'm pretty sure your problem comes from an overheated videa card, try opening the case and checking out if you can install an aditional fan that blows directly at the video card, or just leave it open casket and see if that helps. You have to figure out a way to keep the card cool be creative hahaha

I would invest in a liquid nitrogen cooling system.

Nitrous spray works good too, you can even go F&F and add a wing for better aerodynamics

if its a thermal problem, look to buy a good fan for the video card or, as someone said, open the case, although its most likely your vid card can't keep up with the game, sometimes that happens to my oldie 9200 even with the case open...

check to make sure the CD didn't get scratched or dirty. Sometimes when a disc gets slightly scratched the computer can still run it but it strains it just a lil bit which might cause the overheating.

just a guess but it can't hurt to look

Looks to be a heat problem as you suggest. I think your card has passive cooling so you may want to get something with a fan. Actually that graphics card is a heap of junk tbh so you might want to upgrade anyway.
