Unhappy So I woke up today...to an EMPTY hard drive/computer

I have no idea how...but when I turned on my computer this morning;it went straight into system restore.Last thing I remember was going to sleep leaving it on downloading a torrent...whatever hit my network did it's job - all my partitions are gone ( except system restore which doesen't do shit for me ).

I’m almost speechless, too depressed to get angry. All of my music/documents/pictures....gone.What boggles my mind the most;is how in fucking gods name it spread to 3 different partitions which held my back-up data.

sigh... -_-'

It was a virus.
Tadz101 : I considered that option, but from having looked into date recovery in the past - it's wicked expensive and from what i've been told they can only extract very limited amount of data; most of which are very simple documents. ( correct me if im wrong )

^ yeah I heard that too. Does anyone know any ways to do some data recovery yourself? I've had my old hard drive out of my computer for months now, its super facked, but has pics and stuff from grade 11 until now! I so wish I could recover some of the stuff

Try this software,

Get It Back

It's saved my ass in the past. You can download a free trial which will let you see all the files that are available for recovery. If that returns positive results, then you can purchase the full license to recover the files. It's not that expensive either, but if you're really strapped for cash I'm sure you could find other means of obtaining the full version.

Good Luck!

my hard drive died (drive error - basically the computer wouldnt even detect it anymore) on me (only a 20GB) and i downloaded some software, and i was able to recover all of my personal files myself.

look into it, all is not lost.

and I'd be willing to spend $100 on my personal files and pictures and music etc if need be....

PM sent.I tried "Get It Back" but sadly almost all the files came back listed as 'deleted', but thank you for the information...i'm kinda eager to see if I can actually recover any data by using these 'self recovery' applications.
