Which CD decks + mixer

I'm planning to get 2 CD players and a mixer in the coming months, and plan to spend no more than £500 for the lot.

I've never trying Dj'ing/mixing before, so I'm a total newbie.

Can anyone give me advice as to the best combination for £500? Preferably less if possible as I'm on a tight budget.

I've heard that the decks where you get two players and a mixer all in one are crap. Is this true?

Cheers.

CD's are a lot easier to mix with than TT's.. you dont have to play with the CD like you do to vinyl for cueing up

So is it true that the decks where you get a mixer and 2 CD players all in one unit are crap?

I've decided to go for CD decks since CDs are cheaper than vinyl (cos you can get a compilation of over 40 songs for 20 quid). And since I am a student without a job, I have to go with what I can afford.

No, it's not true, there are some expensive packages that offer you quality CD players and a good mixer, they just cost more

I could probably recommend the package called Gemini Disc-o-Mix 3.0 which offers 2 Gemini CDJ-10 players, Gemini PMX-40 mixer, and cables. It's a pretty good package, especially for the beginner.

The only problem is the mixer; the mixer I think is really really basic, it doesn't even offer you much EQ control.

So, to answer your question, investigate this package issue some more, I don't think all packages are necessarily crap.

Well obviously you havent tried CD units out. They are easier to cue because they hold your cue point(s). Of course vinyls feels better, but its harder to cue on them than CD's. CD units also have digital pitch display.

CD units just came in just over 5 years ago and the population of them is growing, DJ TT's have been around for 25yrs+ and its the original thing to mix with

I also spin vinyl BTW

are you kidding me? there is no proof what soever that vinyl have better quality sound than cds, vinyls are analog and cds are digital, digital is better than analog. so yea, vinyls are not better sound quality than cds. maybe the crowd likes vinyls better because it sounds more live, with all the pops and cracks and whatever. i think most djs havent switched to using cdjs though because the record companies continue to press out new vinyl instead of putting it on cd, i think if they put it on cd, it would be better for people who dont have record players, so they can buy the music too. i know some stuff is on cd, but i never seen fire and ice on a cd single.
