Can't you buy separate filters for your custom fit earplugs, and swap them as necessary? (The filters are what lower the sound, meaning you can change from 15db to 25db whenever you want).

I can only speculate here, but it seems to me like the average club wouldn't normally top 110dB (I could be completely wrong). 15dB reduction would leave you at around 95dB, which is apparantly safe for up to 4 hours before any real damage can begin. So if you're planning to be in the club all night long, every weekend, you might want more.

The only thing I can really tell you from experience is how my ER-20's worked for me (those are the one-size-fits-all cheap ones). They have a reduction level of around 16dB. I wore them at WMC last year. I could go into Space (LOUD) and get punched in the ribs with bass for 10-12 hours a night, and come out the next morning with nearly fresh ears. They felt a little bit worn out (a common feeling), but I had no ringing, no pain, no difficulty hearing common sounds, and within 30-60 minutes my ears felt as good as new. I could hardly stand to take them out, the shrill highs were just screaming in my ear. Without them, I'd have been fucking deaf by morning.

I added a few more thoughts to my above post, in case you might have missed it...

Are you going to get a mold taken tomorrow, or are you actually going to purchase the earplugs tomorrow? If you're just getting the mold, I'm sure you could wait a few days before having it sent, or call the company and ask them to wait a few days before making your earplugs.

If you can get a few days time, order some ER-20's overnight and wear them to a club ($20). They are worth 16dB of reduction. If they're good enough, get the 15s. If not, get the 25s.

I wish they would offer us a fitted plug that's worth 20db!

I'd imagine they are a moulded piece, ie not interchangable, but not sure. Getting fitted for mine within next month or so. 25dB for me.

the guy was saying that 4-6 hours or more in a high volume nightclub environment has been proven to be equivalent in terms of hearing damage to a person working in a manufacturing facility for 6 years

don't hold me to that... just a fact he blurted out

jesus man! thats a hell of a lot to pay! ive used er-20 for over a year, for DJing and clubbing. only cost about $15. very cool if u have a group of friends wearing them, u cantake to each other in a normal voice, while standing next to a blaring speaker.

personally i would get the 25s, but i like it as quiet as possible- each ot their own i suppose.

have been using the 15s for a long while now, and they are good. very good.
