From my favourite movie of all time: "Life as a House"
Sam, if you were a house, you would want to be built on rock over-looking the sea.
^^ At the end of the movie after George as died and he's narrating, and when he says this about Sam, his son, about the house they built together (which allowed him to be fulfilled in life in the end), god, it touching and moving...
"Change can be so constant, you don't even feel the difference until there is one."
^^ I've always thought that was a wonderful quote - wow.
"I think there has to be a door between where you cook and where you crap. Even in the bush - tribal people, you know, they have a place for both. Probably it's like a law. God! It's probably in the Bible. It's at least a building code violation. "
^^ LOL, Sam yelling at his father (he still hates him at this point and has just been made to live with him for the summer in his "shed" as George, his father, rebuilds his house anew. Such a humourous quote.
"Well, what you think you know doesn't necessarily have much to do with reality."
Sam: So what were you trying to do? Trying to get me to like you?
George: No, Sam, I wasn't trying to get you to like me. I was trying to get you to love me.
Sam: Well, congratulations, you fucking pulled it off!
^^ After George just tells Sam that he is dying, he has cancer. A very hard moment to watch.
Sam: I've been using since I was 12! You're also unbelievably stupid, you know that? You didn't give a shit about anything I did up until now!
George: Well, I'll apologize for everything but today! Today I give a shit!
^^ When George finds and disposes of Sam's pot he finds.
George: I'm having a problem with cancer
Sam: I don't know what that means. What kind of a problem?
George: The kind where there is no answer
Sam: I still don't know what that means

George: I always thought of myself as a house. I was always what I lived in. It didn't need to be big. It didn't even need to be beautiful. It just needed to be mine. I became what I was meant to be. I built myself a life. I built myself a house.
^
"I can tell you I love you as many times as you can stand to hear it, but all it does is remind us that love is not enough. "
So true... unfortunately. Sometimes loving a person just isn't enough. Sometimes things that have happened in the past or recently just permentally mare things and forever change the course of your future together, no matter how much you still love the person depsite everything else. I wish love could pull through always... it doesn't seem to always work like that though.
