Tranceling [3:08 4.32meg 192kbps]

okay, i know alot of Big Fish swim around in here, but if you feel that you are not qualified to critique other people's work, i would still love to hear from you!

Tranceling.mp3

Tranceling2.mp3 [3:08 2.15 meg 96kbps]

The Tranceling.mp3 [3:08 2.87 meg 128kbps] final version

i have two other tracks i would like to share with you, but i am on a 56k modem. (which is why i probobly havent commented on your work)

about the song: made w/FL studio, V-station, Bass Station, Superwave and a 7-year-old computer.

the voice is from the AT&T generator, and the words are the Wikipedia definition of trance music.

here is what I think of it; strong in melody and weak in mastering. percussion and composition are somewhat lacking.

what do you think?

I'm not qualified to critique at a professional level by any means - I just started writing music, but I feel ANYONE can critique a piece of art.

There is a huge volume transition around :24. I like the voice. Where can I get that AT&T generator? I'll have to Google for it....

I think the mix is ok. I do think it could use a little work as the bass seems to overpower some of the other instruments. I hear a few blips here and there too towards the end.

I think you have something good here....

Adam

EDIT: LOL! I found it: http://public.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php

Pretty cool tune with a minimalistic approach. The only problem I see is with the mixdown and how the overall mix is very low. The kick could have more punch to it so that it pushes the song more. The melodies used have a lot of potential like you said, but I feel only if there was more perccusion and better composition. Great job otherwise.

thanks!

ive been playing it in diiferent things, and it seems like voume/equalizing can be easy to twitch a few knobs to get it sounding "right"

but alas, even the second version does seem a bit lacking. UGH~!

3rd version: The Tranceling

i think i fixed it. done.

Hi mate ... your tunes are very nicely composed, How ever i see you dont need any more practice on that part. How ever what you need is to learn how to deal whit Fx, try adding some sweeps reverses drumbreakes and other fx elements only this will give your tunes a lot of energy. and after this you need to handle chords , that will give your tunes a much deeper sound.to learn use this links looknohand.com and e-chords.com .and your perc work is very simple you need to add tribals different hats att the same time diferent snares kicks rtims well every thing.!and this goes to all of the tunes i listened to m8 , ONLY by adding this to the tune it will sound a lot more profesional and after this you need to handle the reverb, delay, dynamics and so on. and finaly the mastering , How to handle Eq and volyme , this is very shortly described but this will give you a hint on what to do to improve your skills. cheers/ Mavve

that vocal really works. when i heard it at the start i said to myself ''oh no'' but it is really trippy and i like it a lot.

like your structure. you need some good efx floating around your track to widen it out.

percussion needs work also try and change it every few bars and add more rims, cymbals. i can only hear hihats.

kick is nice. everything else has a nice rhythm to it.

keep it up

kane

You've got the right approach, now I feel there is a need for more variety in your production. Remember that you can play with you music. Introduce different instruments, shuffle parts, add effects, bring volume up and down, filter it....hundreds of different things.
For now all of this is lacking.
Cheers

YAY!

thanks everyone!

im working on this right now, i changed a few things,

everythings coming together like a jig-saw-puzzle!

i cant wait to show you guys the finished prodouct!

addind some PADs in the beginning to grab your attention, addind some FX and percussion to help it build, changing the "backing" that comes in during the breakdown, moving the breakdown further down the track.

sorry if the link stops working
