I think that either having too high, too low, or just right standards all fall short of the reality that when you and a person click, you click. You quickly realize that you dont really understand people as well as you thought you did hehe. Or yourself for that matter.

Call me a pessimist, but I’ve come to the realization that there is no perfect person…not even for you. The truth is, relationships and love take work. They take courage and ability to change for the better and to adapt to situations and feelings. You just have to prioritize your needs and wants and think about the little things that might possibly bother you about someone, and think about how important it is to you that he/she doesn’t do that. i.e. Can you live with the fact that he never folds his laundry and just shoves it in the drawers despite your analness and organized personality? Can you tolerate her being a vegan vegetarian? Now obviously things like trust, sex, chemistry, honesty, communication are key in a relationship…those are like the understood necessities. But when it comes to all the little things, I really don’t think you’re going to have that PERFECT match. I’m sure it happens, but I still think it’s kinda rare.

there are no ideal people, you will never find someone to your ideal standards... all people understand it sooner or later. there are two kinds of people: those who waste their whole life "not settling for less" (and at the end they are somehow lonely and desperate), and those who listen to their heart and don't pay attention to some little things that might aggravate them in the other person.

people who try to analyze their relationships, who try to use their brain to calculate some fucking "index of adherence to idealistic standards" in a relationship, are usually people who will never be happy.

Well if i really clicked with a person so much that i would want to spend the rest of my life with her, even though she wasnt what my perception of ideal was, i woudnt think that im settling for less but rather that my perception of ideal was flawed.

it's not pessimistic, it's just a fact of life. and it's also a wonderful thing: isn't it wonderful when you love the person with all his pros AND cons, because without those cons he/she wouldn't be the same?

how can you tell if you really love a person, if you have never overcome any negative things that you might see in him/her? it would not be love then, but rather an affection for a perfect lifeless picture on a cover of a magazine.

The fucked up thing with me is kinda yes. I look back at my ex's & always pick out thier negatives & think i could find some1 who is perfect. I dunno, its a long story. Maybe because i used to cheat alot too (stopped recently), i dunno really. I just take it one at a time.
