I hate it how so many "Downtempo" artists also go for IDM in their sound.

What are some good albums to pick up (other than schnauss) for beatiful melodic compositions mixed with simplistic beats?

I checked out some "Deaf Center" samples and really liked what I heard. Unfortunately not what i am looking for at the moment.


The melodies were really lush but I just need beats to go with it if ya know what I mean

well then I guess it doesnt exist.

something like:

twelvetrees - the chillin' fields

the sample on amazon only has the intro, but then again the cd is only one penny plus S&H.


or perhaps

cabaret voltair - low cool

it's on "plug in and turn on" (instinct) again the sample is only the intro.


post a sample or link to where i can listen to the one you listed.

Afterlife has featured on numerous Café Del Mar compilations. This is perfect music for relaxing in the sun on a beach somewhere. The music could be described as having a "cruisy, mediterranean vibe". Nothing too pretentious, nothing too trippy or bleepy, just beautiful, relaxing music.

Check out the Cafe Del Mar series of compilations, and also the Budda Bar series. You should be able to listen to samples on Juno etc. If you find some tracks that you like, look for albums by those artists or other artists on the same record label, and then go from there

William Orbits new album - Hello Waveforms

Exept for track 5 which really SUX.

Check out Ulrich Schnauss, his music is AMAZING. He's getting to be quite popular among electronic music enthousiasts, and his stuff always has a good beat and gorgeous melody. You can't go wrong with him.
