Question about laptops

I don't know much at all about computers, so this is probably a very stupid question.

Is it ok to run my laptop pretty much all day off mains power? Its not going to mess up the battery faster or anything is it?
Or should I run the battery down and then mains power after that and repeat?
Or does it not matter either way?

If you let the battery run down time from time it shoudnt be a problem, ive been doing it for threee years wih my laptop (Compaq Evo N1005v) and i havent noticed any diminished capacity of the battery, i get 2,5h to 3h of battery time, depenending on what im doing.

Capacity reduces as you drain and recharge the battery. If you can it is best to keep plugged in to the mains power.

You better becareful how much time you're connecting your laptop to the electric supplies. My dad used to do this all the time and he never used to use the battery. After about 6 months or a little more he hadn't used the laptop's battery and it's screwed.

I suggest you use your laptop's battery atleast once in four days so it doesn't stop working. Also, make sure you use it up completely or atleast below 5% of it's capacity.

i do the same thing with my laptop that i have now. i have had it for 2 years and the battery is still good.

with my old laptop i always had it plugged in and the battery capacity was barely there in a few months.

I had a garden gnome in my garden once, and the entire time it was there nobody broke in. One week after I removed it to sell on Ebay someone broke in to my house. Since I got another gnome nobody has broken in! Great gnomes.
