It wasn't as hard as I thought. I've been realistic about it and have had at most 1 or 2 a day in the past week, but have committed to not buying any more.

Anyone else quit recently?

I don't smoke anymore either. I don't smoke any less mind you.

By all means congrats on cutting down and I hope you stick with it. I had a simple policy with my friends as they tried to quit... If I caught them with a cigarette I got to punch them really hard in the stomach. A few of them had to learn to quit the hard way others saw me coming and droped the smokes fast. Either way it has a proven 95% success rating. I suggest finding your biggest friend that you regularly hang out with and making a similar arrangement as a back up plan in case you get tempted.

If you can associate smoking with a negative consequence it will work in a much more lasting way.
the other idea I've seen some people do is that every time they have a smoke they have to smoke it as fast and as hard as they can so they gag. Also if you do cave in and buy more, pick a brand you hate.

Again, I hope you don't need any of these ideas. and the best of luck to you and congrats for making the healthy life changing choice.

when your at a house party with a few drinks inside you and havent touched a ciggie for a couple days and everyone around you has a smoke in their hand and you resist the urge to have one yourself, well thats when you no its smooth sailing. I say that because thats the one test i fail every time i try to quit.

as long as you dont buy smokes its all good

i have an occasional one here and there, may be when i drink

but i dont smoke on the regular, and THATS what matters!

I haven't bought any in over a month now. I've seen a lot of friends try to quit, especially cold turkey, only to be very discouraged when they break down to have one or two and feel as though they've failed.

Personally, I've weened myself quite well and don't feel the need to smoke at all. This in and of itself is a great accomplishment, which was the whole point of this post

I just saw it as kinda like saying "I don't smoke anymore, except when I do".

by all means though congrats on cutting down to your current levels. I'm not trying to down play that acheivement on your end at all.

Niall quit for 3 months, but I'd sneak them when we were partying, so he started again. My fault.

I am actually quiting at the end of this week..........

I went cold turkey at the beginning of January.

I haven't had any smokes until Decadence. That's the only time I had a few cigarettes. I wasn't even tempted to smoke though...I just felt like having a smoke while socializing, so I did. I haven't had a cigarette since leaving the Co-Zo after Decadence.
