I started with FT2 and I also believe that many others in here have started with some tracker prog.
Check some of my mods if you wanna take a look techniques I used. There might even be some usefull samples . These days tracker isn't quite good enough for producing music but I still miss those times .

I also used to track. I used MODPlug tracker. Lol, actually I have yet to complete a tune in another program. All the music on my traxinspace page is mp3s because the .xm files got so damn big
