[Trance?] The Magistrate - The Mandolin

Hey there, this is just something i made playing around with songstructure and z3ta+ sounds .
the tune is chilled and starts off with an instrumental melody but has a synth melody l8r on.
the string is a mandolin and isnt z3ta+.

all synthy sounds except the pad is z3ta+.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/son...&songID=3889829

higher bitrate can be provided..

BPM: 135
Vsts: Z3ta+ and various free ones
Other: The Pad and Samples.
Length: 8:48

whats your view on mastering and stuff?

Mastering ah. Well your Bassline is distorting a little. I'm guessing you just started out producing. But the mastering is ok. The mandolin is out of tune though.

kind regards,

CD

Music is as universal to people as breathing. We've probably been at it since before we even started talking. Immaging two cavemen smashing away at a peace of flint to make a spearhead. It wouldn't take long for them to learn te synchronise the sound. And there you have it, the words first percussive band.

Music has survived wars, famines, the plague and many other things and has evolved with man across many cultures. Dance music is just the next step in the evolutionary chain. My guess is that it will probably be with us untill we are extinced.

haha, sorry man. Didn't mean to sound offencive. Well, I suppose a year isn't much to some people, i would call that new. But that's just me. But i think you problem is that oriental music works with different scales than european music. You could fix that though if you sampled the first note in your mandolin part and sequence that manualy.

kind regards,

CD

no problem dude, i didnt think off it as offensive.

i know they are on different scales. though i thought that the melody sounded quite good, the problem is that the sample says it should be playing on e3 not c5 so i moved it some semitones and it didnt want to sound proper still so im thinking of changing it .

and i guess ppl have different thoughts on ´how much experience you should have and stuff .

the groove is slightly off with the bass is i think the problem. maybe just move it around a tick or two or widen it. i don't know really since i'm new too i like the break very cool and fun. those don't sound like z3ta presets since i know many, did you make these sounds yourself? around 3 min the groove gels better. it kind of falls apart at 5 min and i think the trancer would be lost.

thanks for sharing

i've been listening to lots of pro tracks lately and you can sure hear the difference between yours and mine and pros. i guess not new means when that difference is nearly eradicated.

if you figure out that path pm me

personally i like the bassline....sounds a little off but i like it. suits the track well.
mastering/eq'n is pretty off though.
kick is too loud over here, and the madolin does sound off some notes.
sounds like ur track is lacking more elements...sounds really empty.
Lacks percs and atomosphere...
nice attempt

Hi dude,
I personally dont find that bad the kick, it's sounds kinda muddy, the kick, also the clap, I would use a high end filter or a deeper sample, the mood of the tune is not that strong for that kick and clap, is more softer imo.
There's a lack of midle end freqs though, pads ate too weak, I ould use some dreamy and deep pads, mixdown is really flat, I like the gated choirs later .
My sugestion would be only to pick up better samples for the mood, work more on the mixodnw, if u are not going to chane the kick sample, at leats use a high end filter, and make the attack shorter, there's a bit of hiss at the end of your sample, for the break, use a deep kick, disonances are kinda weird for me.
In overall, not bad, it only needs some more work mate .
Kopi =o.

disonances? .

the pad is the "choir" .

i might be able to layer the pad with a deeper pad though for a deep feel?

ill switch some samples around .

thanks for the tips kopi, i have been deadbeat on ideas .

thank you so much for the review

i have decided to stop working on the tune beacuse off cpu limits .
