Question payments...

well, there's a guitar center opening up kinda close to me, and several friends and i are going to go check it out on opening day. reportedly, they're gonna have all sorts of sales.

since thus far, ive had tt-100's, that ive had for..lets see... 5 years already, i think its time for an upgrade. hopefully, i can find a nice deal on either technics or stantons or something of the sort...

however, theres a very solid chance that i wont have all the money upfront, so therefore, i was thinkin about putting them on some kinda payment plan, cuz they do that. Right now, im jobless, thus the lack of money, but starting this month, i'll have a job. Think i should bother with it or not?

i dunno... maybe they've changed. but i distinctly remember it being extremely difficult to get credit/financing thru them.

they may still do the lay-away thing, but i think it has to be paid w/in a month or so. so you may be able to put some money down on some turntables, then pay it off w/in 30days.

do some shopping around before you buy anything from them. they don't always have the best deals to begin with. try to find the best deal humanly possible on what ever you're looking for... (-authorized dealer of course/no ebay) then take the ad with you and make them match it.

i just remembered... sam ash was more flexible w/their lay away policy. you might want to check them out. but it's been atleast 6 years since i've asked either one about their policy's... so what they told me back then, might not be what it is now.

i hate guitar center. They are crooks over there and have no shame with pushing floor model equipment with missing parts for the same price as a new one sold cheaper elsewhere.

I'll agree to that, but you can get around it. I've had really good luck at getting Guitar Center to buy into prices I've had "quoted" on the internet, and getting absolutely INSANE prices on some nice equipment, but every single time you HAVE to check the packaging they give you and make sure that everything is good to go. You don't want to get something that's been sitting on their floor for a while...

eh.. actually ive had better luck at the other guitar center around here vs. the sam ash...

the guys at sam ash just dont seem to care at all...

actually... when i was first interested in getting dj gear, i was just looking around at the sam ash. then i tell the guy sorta what im interested in, and that i'd already was considering tt-100s... the guy totally blew me off and kept trying to persuade me to get some numark package w/ belt-drives... i was like "yeah.. ok... but do you guys have tt-100s here... i was kinda thinkin of somethin like that" and he was like "nah.. youre probably gonna want somethin like this.. its got everything you need: tables (aforementioned belt-drives), mixer (cheap mixer), headphones (really cheap headphones), and monitors (you guessed it.. crappy monitors too). needless to say, i left...

anyway... thats another story..

yeah.. i was only thinking of getting new stuff if i can really get a good deal... otherwise, i think "quoted" prices will be my plan b.

I'm pretty pleased with how I was treated at my local guitar center. As I was looking to buy a whole setup of TT's, Mixer, and Cartridges.

I was looking at the Shure Whitelabels which had a price tag of $110/piece (which seems to be on par with what I've seen @ reputable online dealers and elsewhere). He said that he'd be able to get me those for $75/piece when I'm actually looking to purchase the setup.

He said he'd do everything in his power to lower the price on the Technics M5G's that I was looking at, but was upfront and said that would be harder to do as they have a contract with Technics not to sell lower than a certain amount.

They didn't have any mixers of any real interest to me at there store, so I wasn't sure I was going to buy a mixer from there.

I atleast could say that the guy was knowledgeable and curtious about my wants/needs, and I appreciated that.
