I played a party today that had a DJM-600 as part of its setup. It was my first time using this mixer, and it wasn't an unpleasant experience.

However, one thing I did not like was how loose and light the upfaders were. I'm used to my lowly Vestax 275 -- its faders are more firm and offer more resistance to your movements. This is nice, because it allows for very precise movements. I had to be very careful when moving the DJM's faders.

Now, this mixer had definately been around the block a few times. But are all DJMs like this (not just the 600, but the 800/1000 as well)?

It's been a while since I sold my 600, but I do remember that the faders had less resistance than the 275.

If you think the 600's faders are loose, try a Xone:92. You can flick them up to the top with very little pressure. After using the 92 for a while now, I really dig the loose faders. Since you like stiff faders, have you considered a rotary?

Sorry if this doesn't really help, I just though I would chip in. I only used the 800 briefly, but I loved the feel of the faders. But, without using a 600 recently, I couldn't tell you how different they felt. They felt great, though. Never touched a 1000.

I own a 3000set myself and i've used a 600, and even a 909.. All the fader's (at least on these) were light as **** and definately require special attention. The pitchfader is sturdy as hell 'tho. I'd say if u have shaky finger's then the vol. trim knob is the best (and only?) way to fade out smoothly. Just my 2 cenz..

i like my faders w/resistance too... i just never got into the loose faders, because i never felt i could control them as well.

trog, is right... check out a rotary mixer, or get a rotary kit for vestax. rotary is insane, i am hooked. i don't think i will ever consider buying a mixer that's fader based, unless i can convert it, and switch back and fourth when i need to.

my experience with the djm600 sucked because i couldn't get the most out of it since there was not enough light to see all the buttons and stuff. but yeah the faders were loose also i noticed the volume faders are useless below half way and after that the curve is so sharp...not my preference but whatever still worked out ok...also the djm600 has nice eqs which are good...but whats funny is the djm300s is totally different. The volume faders have a nice resistance and are linear and not exponential like the 600..also i am sorry but haven't used the new pioneer models lately so i can't give info on 1000 or 800

i myself dont like the super loose faders like the pioneers. I guess its good for scratching, but when I can put the faders up on the mixer just by blowin on it, thats bad.

not a fan of faders full stop- but particularly dont like the pioneers. Far far too loose and short.

i own a djm500 and the faders are as smooth as you like, very very nice, not loose at all, this is strange, i played on my mates 600 and like you guys are saying the faders are very loose, and horrible, very diff to my 500, anyone else got a 500 like mine?
