Equipment Power

I just baught a presonus firebox and have realised that since its running of the ac power supply it is always on unless unplugged.
Should i just leave it on all the time or should i unplug it when im not using it?
What do most of you TAs do for your equipment. I remember there was a similar question in the dj booth about amplifiers and many said that they just leave them on 24-7.

I heard they get really hot, so if I were you I would unplug it when not in use.

Why not just use a power conditioner/switch and use that to power up all your stuff. It's so much easier to just flip one switch to turn everything on and off at once.

The unit only runs on 12V DC/10W so it's not using a huge current, however personally I'd modify it's power source to enable swtiching on & off. Mainly because it's pointless leaving it on when your computer's off, but also for peace of mind in terms of power surges and component wear.

Thanks for the replys.
Reading FuzzyGreen's reply has reminded me to buy a power condition/surge protector/switch.
I was meaning to buy one of these ages ago but i guess i forgot

BTW these do get quiet hot.

If you power it up using the 6 pin Firewire then when you turn off your computer the firebox should turn off too.
