Question reversing set

let's say you've played a set, proper set with good flow and gradual changes of energy levels and so on...
now, if what if you completly reverse it, i mean the first track would the the last one, the last would become the fist, etc...
is it possible that it could work?

it's just theoretical question, i know that programming a set from low energy level to high looks slightly differnt than starting with banging stuff and going to more chilled, but once again, do you think it could work good?

i hit upon that idea couple minutes ago and i'd like to know what do you think about it... btw i've never tried to do such thing (not yet, at least)

cant see why not!

anyway i think it would work like this:

if it were just a quick night party i would start down tempo and build things up as people need to soak it up and slowly get into the swing of things, really depends where you are, what kind of event, people, reason for being there etc.
most times i wouldn't start out banging if you were opening it just doesnt work most times id say.
then the early hours of the mourning you bring it back down to down tempo stuff id say. it makes it sort of a nice recovery session from the night. trust people get stuffed when they've been dancin, so most appriciate good listening music thats grooveable id say. but then again it depends, if your at a rave well then go for it and full throttle all the way lol.

so it goes, minimal - climax - minimal.

cheers.

i thought so as well... and how about more limited time, let's say 1 hour, imo it's possible but i think i could not work so good... but it's only assumption, gotta check it on my own

your question us a bit odd, mainly for the fact it should work in the sense of how the set flows, should really matter which way...might have the opposite effect i guess. depends on style.

omg, play a set backwards and add in stuff about satan as vocal samples, that'll spook some people out. ftw!

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure it would work for every set. In some cases, i'd hear all of the high energy stuff first (which has less of an impact if you haven't started with soft stuff), and then I'd lose interest. Doesn't hurt to try though, you never know.

I've done it... I usually start with electro house and end with trance or techno... but there's been times when the DJ before me is banging it hard that I have to reverse my set and it works just fine if you know how to do.

djing isn't about a formula, mathematical equasion or wind speed measurement

it's about being in the moment, feeling what your crowd is putting out and just going with the flow

sure, there's some guidance on your part (you being the dj and all)

in the end, you pick the music, they dance (it's kinda how it works)

if and how hard they dance... that's up to you

play what you feel they would like and go with it

if you want to go high to low or low to high, do it and don't hold back

wow... a little stoned... k, i lied... very stoned...

hopefully that kinda makes sense, had a little "zen" moment there...

did you use exactly the same tunes as in other set, but in reversed order? cause playing tracks starting with other energy level than we usually do isn't something very hard, you just got to feel it and go with it, just like Tonny said (btw... nice input dude )

i'm getting a bit more sceptic about that idea... when i was playing yesterday night, i was thinking a bit about it meanwhile and i realized somehow that there some tracks (at least in my case) has very specific place in my sets, it can be caused by certain vocals (you know, idea of "story-telling" in sets) or very distinct mood, and they won't work so good as a warming up track, like they did at the very end of set...

if someone would play such thing (2 sets) i think that it works, post at least the tracklist (or recorded set if possible) here, so we could check it
