Re: (VIC) Places to go?

Hi,
I want to help a freind of mine out. She says she is into trance, but she has never been to a trance club (except for two tribes). I know nothing about any of this, so i was hoping you guys might be able to help me out. I'm not into trance and techno so much, but i love learning new things!
Well, i've done a bit of research on this, like reading through the trance wiki and i have listend to a few songs from this list. But i'd also like to know where some good clubs are in melbourne. I had a look through previous posts, but i couldn't really find anything. I'm looking for somewhere that plays mostly trance/prog-trance.
I was tempted to ask you guys if you have any recomended listenings, but if this forum is like any other, you'll have a million of those threads already. But, you know, if you want to maybe suggest something, i'm totally ok with that!
Thanks. |
Interview @ Tilt.

I would say if the interest came from the main arena of trance at Two Tribes you want-
Interview monthly at Tilt - basically prog/trance/house over two levels so it suits *everyone* ie there's some commercial stuff everyone knows that gets spun
Obsession monthly at Room - uplifting trance in the main room and progressive in the side (which seems to be getting more minimal)
Though like others have said there isn't too much happening anymore. Quality trance is getting neglected these days.
Bass Station/Hard Kandy/3D/Tuned/Revolution I think are all hard trance/dance and it most def isn't everyone's thing. Very hard music, lots of drugs.
I'd also say note the release date of the '100 greatest trance tracks' as the trance sound has definitely changed quite a bit from that sound and you won't necessarily find it out (hey I don't, JulesPLees was pretty farkin close at the last Obsession though!) It can get a lot more 'uplifting' these days.
