cubase - sidechaining in SL 2. 0.

sorry, its my second query about s c in cubase.

i PROMISE i searched. i have read and even watched a video tutorial. but none seem to show how to do it in 'sl' 2.0.

i know there is very little difference between sx and sl but the tutorials seem to not follow with my version (SL 2.0).

jeese. i understand compressors loads, but dont know how to route the trigger to a comp like 'ducker' or the red 'side chain' compressor.

can someone please write me a detailed step by step?

even the steinberg forum seems to skip the sl tutorial.

rich

^^ i believe that way, you're only able to get a mono signal. if you have the Natives bundle, they have sidechaining plugs that make things WAYYYY easier.

sorry guys.

i have read these things to death. but its like the things they say to do i cannot on my cubase (sl 2.0) like the panner being set to mono. others say you have to set the group channel to 'quadro' but i aint got that cos sl is just stereo.

can someone who has done it on sl 2.0 give me a run through please? it would be such a help

Well if SL is stereo only, and you're 100% sure there's no way to create a 4 channel track then all you can get is mono sidekicking.

Yup, DB Audioware Dynamics Processor, TC Electronics Compressor DeEsser (Native Bundle) or just volume automation.

yea i know but i do my kicks and percs in the reason redrum and my bass in cubase. but the channel for the the rewire is the kick and percs in the same channel so therefore if i compress this with the bass it compresses the percs also.

sounds confusing maybe someone knows?

i was just told how to do it on cubase.net

an easy way to sidechain in cubase.

copied from a reply to my post from 'peace dog' at www.cubase.net

Create a stereo Group track, pan the bass left, and set the output of the bass track to the group. Duplicate the bassdrum track, pan the duplicated track to the right, and also route it to the group (this is a workaround for not having the send panning option in SL). Insert the sidechain compressor (red) in the group insert, set your compressor settings. With the key volume knob, you can monitor your trigger signal, turning the knob fully down mutes the trigger signal at the output. With the red sidechain compressor, the right channel triggers the left (in this case, the bassdrum triggers the bass).

and god. the track is much cleaner in the bass area now.

does this not push the bass to the left of the track leaving it unbalanced or does the sidechain compressor pan it?
