Tranceaddict Mp3 DJ Competition X
THIS COMPETITION IS SOFTWARE ONLY.
Closing date for DJs: 1 March*
Closing date for mixes: 1 April
Closing date for results: 1 May
Rules for DJs:
1. You may mix with Mp3s in Real Time.
2. All mixes must be recorded live, no using multiple mixes and sticking the best transitions together.
You may plan and practise your mix, but not to the point that it becomes robotic.
3. You may not download other contestants mixes. The mix must be exclusive for the competition.
4. You must mix trance, this rule bends as far as progressive and hard trance.
5. Mixes must be 60 to 80 minutes in length.
6. All mixes must be uploaded with a tracklist, a cue sheet would also help.
7. Contestants may not also be a judge, you have the choice to be either, not both.
8. All DJs must state how they have made their set, ie which program used.
9. Mixes must be submitted in 160kbps Mp3 quality, CBR or VBR, no Mp3-Pro files are allowed.
10. You must actually mix to gain marks, snapping together of tunes is not allowed. That is not really DJing.
PM me when your mix is done.
Rules for judges:
1. All mixes must be marked on skill and the way the contestant progresses their mix, NOT ON PERSONAL OPIONION OF THE CONTESTANT OR THE SONGS HE WISHES TO MIX.
2. Mixes will be marked on the following categories:
a) Originality (10%)
b) Flow (20%)
c) Beatmatching (20%)
d) Levels (10%)
e) Melodics (25%)
f) Phrasematching (15%)
The maximum score a DJ can get is 100.
3. You are not allowed to share any kind of feedback about the mixes until the final rankings are posted.
4. The final scores will be calculated and posted by one of the judges (peopele's choise or random pick).
Both DJs and judges may be disqalified for not following the rules.
All judges will have to be appoved by me and will only be accepted as long as nobody else has any problems.
Judges and Administrators have the right to reserve and change/ammend these rules.
A little bit more about the scoring system:
a) Originality
This is about the tracks you chose to play in your set. I mean, there are alot of mixes that sound just like another ASOT, or contain a lot of tunes that we can here a million times these days. Ofcurse you can play 2 or 3 top tracks in your mix but you need to came up with something too. There are alot of beautiful "unknown" tracks too you know. You can get a maximum of 10 points on this one.
b) Flow
Well, you all know when a mix is well build and has a good feel, so there's nothing much to say. 20 points is the maxiumum you can get.
c) Beatmatching
The word says it all. A maximum of 20 points for it.
d) Levels
A mix lacks eq-ing or gain volumes? This is the section where you lose points for it. 10 points maximum.
e) Melodics
Two tracks can be in perfect sync but won't sound good if their melodic lines don't go well together. On the other hand, if you chose the right tracks, with melodics that are complementing each other you'll get an awesome transition. 25 points for this one.
f) Phrasematching
You skipped a beat while cue-ing, or you started the transition too late? Too bad, you can loose up to 15 points.
