Help: Moving from Korea to Japan anyone done it: re visas for teaching

So in 6 weeks i will be able to finally leave pusan and go back to japan. I will have more than enough money to sustain myself for 3 months and hopefully i can get something sorted. But i wonder if any other english teachers have done this before. From my understanding it is not easy getting a visa while you are in japan. I have been looking at a variety of options and several including just going there and applying tonnes at different companies and hoping something will pan out. But i am also apprehensive about going there and wasting tonnes of money on living expenses only to have it all be for naught. From my understanding the big schools only hire from your home nations so it means i might have to go back for the summer and apply from toronto. Which will be fun at least.

I want to know if anyone else here has managed to get a visa from outside thier home nation for japan? I might even consider going to australia to get this sorted it that is what it is going to take.

Although I would rather save the money and go directly from korea to japan and not have to go through that.
can you even just go and buy your own visa or something? I doubt the last one but i do know that the tourist visa will sort you out for 3 months or so.

Hey Swilly,.... So you taught English in Korea and didn't like it? hmmm... good thing I applied to Japan then.... urs is one of many bad experiences I've heard about...Did u try applying to the big Eikaiwas (English language schools) there (GEOS, AEON, NOVA, ECC)? I think they take anyone who has a university degree and is a native speaker of English... oh and you also need to be all smiley n stuff.("Genki" they call it:P)... I'm sure with your experience u have a very good chance of gettin the job... I applied to one of them and got a job.... they organize visa for you and decide where you teach... That was the deal when u apply from Toronto...i dunno if u can do it from Korea but I'm sure if u go to their websites u can work something out.... shoot the hiring office an email or something....

ya the eaikaiwas only hire in your home country unless you hire on with nova. Which i had already worked for and quit because of how crappy it was. I would not recommend them if i were you. I would suggest going with ECC they are the best IMO

as well dont come to korea. Seoul might be worth while but even still it is still 20 years behind Japan. Unless saving money is your one and only goal then go to japan. You can save some money in japan not the insane amounts you can in korea but....in japan there are tonnes of cool people. Korea attracts losers for some reason.

i taught english at a hogwon near Pusan and most of the teachers (caucasian) appreciated the opportunity.

YOU on the other hand, must have had some bad luck or something...

Koreans i like and i actually do like korea as a place. But there are just way to many fucking stupid military types here and way to many fucking moron teachers in this place.

I actually feel bad because I have to admit i have found koreans to be a lot more friendly than japanese.

as well the music scene here sucks

ya it has been a bad scene since the day i arrived. If it was not for my **** head forigen teacher co workers and the fact that i must live and work with them, i could see myself liking it here.

but that is life and in korea getting another job is not so easy.

Ok dont get me wrong like i actually do think korea is a super cool place and it has a lot offer. I can safely say that 1) korean food is better than japanese.
2)There is a tonne of holistic stuff to do in korea like hiking and scuba diving and tonnes of other cool shit all for super cheap

3) The country is beautiful
4) hanguk yoja choponteche iminida ( korean girls are 1st place)
5) Soju is brilliant
6) a teacher is able to learn the korean script in a reasonable amount of time unlike the Kanji in japanese.

ya like i feel bad now. in a lot of ways you are a microcosm of my feelings toward korea. At some level i really do love it but i have just had such a bad experience since i got here and my coworkers have made shit so hard for me and i must live with them so at some point you just need a break from it all.

so i leave for japan. As getting another job here is not so easy.

PS i really do like korea and espeacially korean people.
PS 2 but i was serious about the music scene sucking in Busan

As far as music scene in Korea, I have to admit Japan would offer you more. I agree that. But it's building up. You could have tried your position in Seoul not Busan. Everything is in Seoul not Busan.

I could provide u some links about music scene in Korea.
