Harper proposes anti street racing bill

And i agree with it.

Why? Because this is REAL crime. There should be a proper public place in which to race. Just like there should be a proper public place in which to smoke

that is true. but if no one will approve of places to be built or for cars to go to, then it is hard to be stopped.
its like saying smoking is illegal except for certain areas and these areas are very rare to find or are far far away.

But thats why we need to stop NIMBYism and allow for race tracks. Otherwise this WILL continue law or no law.

another bullshit law, even worse than the other one
they make street racing a criminal offense when they refuse to build special tracks for people to race on
ok, 2 retarded kids that have rich parents take their parents cars, race on suburban street and kill an innocent man but all the other people that are good drivers and know what they are doing suffer the consequences. I had a friend who had a souped car, babyblue and all that shit, he never drove over the limit, he just did it for fun as a hobby, yet he got pulled over at least 10 times a day for no reason.
Seriously though, racers usually go to closed up areas far away from suburbs and from people to make sure no one gets hurt, if someone gets hurt then its usually the actual drivers but they know the risk when they race.
Free country my ass

agreed... they need to build places for people to race. And we need to start ignoring nimbyism in order to do that.

The law is needed, but thats only half the story.

Absolutely agreed. Full stop, period.

These 'street racers' nine times out of ten don't know what their skill limits are, and even worse don't know what their vehicle is capable of either. They're not professionals no matter how much shit they do to their car, and too often they get WAY over their heads.

Sorry if I offended any sport compact enthusiasts, and I hope you're among those that do it safely and where you're supposed to.

Our streets are not dragstrips. Go risk your own lives somewhere else.

I dont agree with this bill for a few reasons.
1. it takes away from my livelyhood. how can I hustle people with ma street racin skillzzzz

They wont build tracks(drag strips) closer to the city. closest is cayuga and its about an hour and half away. And then when you actually go their, they have MTO and the police set up road blocks on the way in to try and give you bs tickets for nothing. (So that just deters you from going next time).

The amt of people that die from organized street racing is..ZERO! NONE! The amt that die from that random light encounter is a few *usually* a year and its not from the typical "street racers" type of cars. Its usually kids in their parents cars being completely stupid.

People have been dropping the hammer in their cars for years and this bill wont stop that. People will still do it. The police cant always be there to stop it.

I think driving like an idiot on the street is dumb but lettin the car rip every so often in the right place isnt a big deal.

But you always have dumbshits who dont know when not to drive fast and that fucks it all up for everyone else. Some douche bag in a jetta weaves through traffic and the stereotype is created and then people in similar cars get harrassed by the Police.... but I see street racing among "normal" cars ALL DAY LONG everyday!

although it hasnt been THAT bad in the last couple years as the media hype had died down a bit and the cops were getting in shit for clogging up the court system with bs tickets.

although this past WINTEr....yes winter they were doing news reporting on street racing..and now this..This summer is gonna be shitty(most likely) in terms of bs tickets.

obviously you cant account for everything on the street but with some experience you are usually alright. its the inexperienced that run into trouble.

Ive never been harrassed by the popo and I drive a stereotypical car.

Hahah oh man, talk to Kain about being pulled over for being suspected of street racing. Among other bullshit, because of his previous car.

So what exactly does this bill consist of?

Street racing gets you charged with reckless driving, among a few other offences, it's hardly a light matter as it is. what would the bill change exactly?

On the topic of street racing, I hold the same opinion as I do for smoking and unprotected sex - if you wanna harm your health, go right ahead, but only as long as you're not harming innocent bystanders.

So if you race at 4 in the morning when there's nobody else around, i don't see a problem. Weaving in and out of traffic during rushour because you put a fart pipe in, should get you in trouble.

yup. weaving is really ghey. *unless im in a rush *

The bill would make it a criminal Offence. You would have a record! If you get caught twice you can end up in jail.
