And id say hes exactly right. And the reason he is avoiding them is so that they won't spin everything he says into bias. And i cant blame him. The more you feed the canadian media fish, the more hungry they get.

It's the same logic as why a rave promoter would never talk to a news crew about his upcoming party, even if he seemingly has nothing to worry about and nothing to hide.

based on his actions so far i'd say his following of people who voted for him are glad, unlike the liberals, hes doing what he said he would.

any act of positioning or re-positioning "facts" in the political realm is "spin"...therefore the use, in any form of "fact" in the case of the scandal to win an election, is "spin".

curious to know, if conservative policy is airtight, then what is the concern on the part of harper?...for me its like saying "I didnt do it!" before someone asks you if you did it...harper is a-canadian.

The media will put whatever spin it wants depending on the public's mood, and the public is still very wary of big bad yank lovin' scary hidden agenda Harper.

Sounds like Harper will pick and choose which media outlets he will use to his advantage and on which topics...in this case he chose something not specifically related to Canadian policy, Canada as a whole or requires any use of his brain; any first year poly-sci student could have coughed up his response in this case.

The media is fucking biased on everything, they skew things to make them news worthy and sensasionalist.

I don't believe the PM has to answer every journalist on every god damn question some journalist ask, journalist should stick to the subject at hand (Harper have been complaining about this).

But, on the other hand, why should Harper's crew choose the questions? that is completely BS.

And the media just changed like that??? As soon as he came to office? No, they were always like that. It's their job. He should have nothing to worry about. He has higher people's confidence now since the election. He should stay and be open, as silence leads distrust. Why would Harper compare himself with the terrible public speaker country leader down south, who actually got re-elected for another term.

And... if both Liberal and Conservative parties complain of media bias... that makes the media unbiased, doesn't it?

This has always been the case with canadian media, and media worldwide. No, Harper may not have played a huge part in the media spin in regards to the sponsorship scandal, but he took full advantage of it in the months leading up to the election, and ended up with a victory because of it. Quite two faced if you ask me.

Just so it's known, I'm a die hard liberal, always have been and always will be. But if Harper would live up to the standards of accountability that he preached in the election, then like most canadians I'll give him his fair chance. But refusing to answer media questions is not the way to go about it now is it? Or is this just how it's gonna be with him in power?
