...kidding. There's probably some ridiculously simple FTP program for Macs out there that even your dad could use. Setup an FTP server on your box and have him grab it from there.

Use WINRAR and split the file into 5-6 diferent parts of an archive
upload to megaupload/sendspace
done
PS. uploading a 1gig file to a HTTP upload site is not smart
examples: disconected off the net, pressed on a banner by accident, closed the site by accident
