It's like I said in my post, you're a few years too late. Three years ago, I could've sold ten records for +$1000, now they'll be lucky to sell at all. I think the biggest difference in price is caused by the complete shift in musical tastes. The types of records that used to fetch so much money on eBay aren't popular any longer, so no one's buying them. This is not to say "TRANCE IS DEAD", because anyone with half a brain can figure out that music doesn't die, trance simply lost the main-stream popularity that it enjoyed for about five or six years. Think about it, Oakenfold doesn't play the records he played in the late 90s, early 2000s. Nor does Sasha. Digweed doesn't. Hell, even Tiesto found a new song or two to play, I'm amazed that guy can find his own ass... but enough about him. If you paid a lot of money for some of these records with the plan to sell them later, you're probably screwed. Unless trance suddenly becomes amazingly popular again, these records really aren't worth much any longer.
Look at this 12" release of Frontside's Dammerung:

It's easily one of the most sought-after records by Discogs standards, and was on eBay last week. It sold a few years ago for $300+. It sold over this past weekend for $10.50 USD. The time has passed for this music, and if you're buying it now to resell for profit, you're an idiot.
Buy trance to enjoy, play for yourself and play out for those who appreciate it, but don't spend your money with the idea that you'll make a profit on it, b/c it's not going to happen, at least not for a long, long time. |
couldnt agree more, or say it better, waxHead. nonetheless, its such a shame. i think i will start focussing more n more now on mixing, in stead of collecting and try selling stuff with a profit ..

House was ooit house. Waar ongelovigen toch predikten “God made me funky, and I’m glad He blessed me this way”. |
