If you have a audio part in sx3 that is longer then a beat (lets say a kickdrum) and you want to place it on every beat they overlap. When they overlap they make a clicking sound which is bad. Obviously i could place them on alternating tracks to avoid this but there IS a way to leave them on the same track and make it so they do not click...........does anyone know how to do this? I have seen someone do this but i forgot how he did it..I can not find it anywhere in the manual ...any advice from SX users would greatly be appreciated. thanks!

first off all u should pick a kickdrum which isnt longer than the 1/4 of a bar..

i tend to cut the parts so they dont overlap.. and then clue them together..

sometimes i do that but some things i do not want to cut the tails off of...there is a way to do it ..just dont remeber how..

let them overlap then select them all and choose Audio->crossfade. Now each segment will crossfade into each other.

if the tail is just a smidge longer than a 1/4 note, you can timestretch the kick so that it's exactly a 1/4 note for whatever bpm your project is at. or tune the sample if you're using Battery/RMIV/Kontakt/Halion/etc.

you can also crossfade like Emporer said. an easier way to do it is to highlight the overlapping audio files and press the "X" key.

k now we are getting close.....i know it had something to do with crossfading them.....but when i do that with a normal crossfade each part the volume kind of fades out and then back...any tips so they just overlap perfectly?? close!....thanks guys!

set the sample on 2 tracks, later on, record those 2 tracks, and use the recorded track as 1.

the crossfade technique is the one im after......they were close but that doesnt fade right......maybe just a setting for crossfade?

Both crossfading and timestretching will destroy the kick sample. Use a sampler. I believe there is one inluded with Cubase, LM-7 or something? If you don't want to do that, use an envelope tool to shorten the tail.

Drop the tempo 1 or 2 bpm would do it too. :-P

i too want to know this.. i record all my audio ie) the basslines in 8 bar measures or whatever and everytime i loop them i get that clicking noise. using a sampler is out of the question for these longer audio tracks... anyone know?? maybe there is a setting to overlap the audio tracks so each loop doesnt just cut in and cut out and instead play through giving it that overlapping affect?? crossfading will just create like a "sidechaining" effect which is not cool cuz it looses the energy on continuous driving bass lines...

Ok, non smart ass comment:-

Open up the loop in your audio editor, trim it so it is at (Or better just short) of 8 bars. Then highlight the last 20ms or so and do a destructive fade to zero.

As for the kic click, you really should put it into a sampler, or trim the sample so it's less than a 1/4 beat and fade as above.
