Thumbs up Iran wants to be friends with the west.

Hey after seeing the Brittish sailors released by the Persian president i really think he wants to be friends with the west. Remember he challenged George Bush to a live debate about nuclear weapons? That would have been good but George Bush would have convincingly lost the debate since its not fair that one country can have nuclear power/weapons and another isn't allowed.

Seriously people put yourself in Iran's shoes and imagine you wanted the best for your country.. With the way america is acting and treating Iran- if i was their president- i'd gladly love to bomb the arrogant americans.

Ever thought nuclear weapons in the hands of a widely-known state sponsor of terrorism wasn't such a good idea? Becuase, I sure don't. The reason America can have weapons is because the USA can be trusted with them.

If you were Iranian would you trust america with them? What gives americans the right to be "trusted". As far as persians are concerned they are the next IRAQ

Us americans have to get this bizarre way of thinking out of our heads... we are not better than anyone else in this world.

Take a look at the persians actions- they want to be friends but america just isnt listening

And WHY does Iran need nuclear energy in a land of VAST resources again??

well put.

Although I don admire the regime in IRan ,I think it's for the better than they're having more friendly attitude against the west.

My main political view is to have a free government in Iran inwhich religion is seperate from politics. But having a war to establish such thing will be too bloody therefore IMO it's a wrong move and will bring more haterd to the people.
So i think small changes and diplomacy are the best ways to reach democracy and hopefully will be achievable someday. And I hope that day I won't be a vegetable on an arm chair. lol

I thought I made it clear to you before in different thread..

What VAST resources you referring to? Iran is desert.. they don't have any refineries to use its own oil fields.. And what they need is electricity.. not oil. But for getting electricity they don't have any rivers to build dam on, terrain is rugged mountainous so solar power is not possible, and they don't have coal mines to set up power plants.. nuclear energy to make electricity for its industries is the MOST appropriate and efficient technology they can have.

True facts purple, but we both know this will never get into their damn heads, and their answer to this will be the usual "Iran is a terrorist state".

I'd comment but in Iran I wouldn't be allowed too... edit- actually neither would the lot of you be allowed to present an argument to the contrary either.

It is naive to think that the events of the last week show that the Iranian regime wants friendly relations with the west.

The current regime stays in power solely by the animosity between them and the west, it is how they drum up support, it is how they got elected, and it is how they stay in power.

If suddenly Iran were on friendly terms with the west, the current regime would crumble as their base would rebel against them for selling out to the "great satan".

Last time I checked Japan was more mountainous, more populated, and has no nuclear weapons. Hmmmm, odd for I seem to recall Japan as one of the world's wealthiest countries.
Iran also has a more diverse climate then Japan, which can help with diversifying agriculture.
Iran also has a LOT of dams and irrigation systems.
Iran actually has the advantage over Japan in that it has oil fields (OPEC's second largest oil producer), and has the second largest amount of natural gas reserves.
Iran's biggest disadvantage is that Iran is a fanatic country run by people who not only can't seperate religion from state, but who also preach hate.
