So this is the second record I have gotten where the hole in the center, I think, is too big. This causes it to take a while to start playing at regular speed. And, when I try to bump the record or twist the metal part to speed it up it actually causes it to slow down once finishing being sped up.

Any suggestions?

You could take some of those small adhesive notebook paper rings and stick them on either side of the label to close up the hole, or you get a small piece of rolled-up tissue and place it in the hole so it helps spindle grip the record like it should.

I personally use the tissue way myself.

use tape. i mix mostly hip-hop where there is a lot of cutting and scratching. i like the holes to be fairly tight.. so i take a piece of tape and put it through the center. it's also nice because you can use that to create a marker on the label.

Ya know, maybe it might not be there. I dunno... when I touch the record to move it back and forth over the beat it seems the needle jumps a little. I dunno, hopefully Ill figure it out.

if the hole is bigger than the spindle then it will be able to move around a bit so the stylus will skip when this happens.

what people forgot to point out was you should put a bit of sticky tape over the center hole each side of the vinyl...but then make a small puncture in both by using a sharp pencil. now push your vinyl onto the spindle and the pencil hole will be widened. and hopefully the ceter hole will be made smaller by the tape being there. if it is still loose repeate the process over the top of the previous tape..

Go to your local stationary shop and buy some lever arch file ring reinforments (the little sticky ones for files which you stick on when you rip the punched hole in a piece of A4).

Stick one on either side of the hole and press the vinyl onto the deck which will push the little sticker into place. It adds just enough to the centre to make it grip properly on the spindle

Black Tape works good.

Just cut them into strips, and put it on either side of
the holes.

Putting each slice through the holes, and the ends of the tape is on either side of the vinyl.

Black Tape is rubber, and, rubber doesn't slip. It's also
less messy than using an overly sticky tape(Duct Tape)for the job.
