When mixing 2 tracks as I fade one track out and fade another in, the overall volume dips. If I play each track individually, one of them hits 0.00 db mark whereas the other is always around -1.00 db. I would like to normalize the sounds of all tracks to 0.00 db before mixing them to avoid the problem of volume dip. I am using Mixmeister. And I am basically a novice. I would like to know ways of overcoming this problem.

Yeh loads. The Wav editor in nero could probably do it.. Just look for a sound editor. Plenty of trial software about too.

mp3gain, its free... google it.

just normalize all tracks before the set...

I used mixmeister years ago...but I think that each track had a volume slider...somewhere on the right...

you can also use compression/limiting just put a DX limiter on your master bus

I use MP3Gain also. I'm using Traktor software to DJ with, it will also auto-gain so I don't really need to use MP3Gain but I use it anyway in case I play tracks with another program such as Windows Media Player.

I use 94 or 95 db as the setting in MP3Gain, lots of other people use a similar level. BTW MP3Gain may sometimes tell you certain tracks will clip but they really are NOT clipping, possible minor problem with the program, doesn't hurt anything but it might not raise the level on some tracks to the db that you want.
